The application process for admission to the Joint Professional Master Course in Cross-Media Journalism is now open!
The Professional Master Course has been designed internationally and it is offered jointly by IPSI, University of Sousse and University of Sfax, in cooperation with the Sfax Section of National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists and EU institutions UNIMED, IULM, UTA, UB in the framework of the Tempus eMEDia project.
The Professional Master Course will start on October 5, 2015 and lasts 2 academic years, corresponding to 120 ECTS.
The programme is specifically tailored for graduates who are interested in acquiring the competences to integrate traditional instruments of journalism and innovative instruments of digital journalism, focusing on the local community and with global interests.
In the programme, students will:
- acquire the competences to integrate traditional instruments of journalism and innovative instruments of digital journalism;
- understand journalistic ethics and deontology;
- comprehend digital and new environments, cross-media, data and photo journalism;
- apply the knowledge gained in journalistic writing for micro-blogs and social media;
- acquire the ability to develop contents in relation to technology used and to the public addressed;
- understand the role of citizen journalists and acquire the ability to conduct quality assessment of user-generated contents;
- prepare and defend a multimedia project-work
Examples of occupational profiles of graduates are: professional journalists, new media experts and social media curators.
Renowned professors from Tunisia are part of the course distinguished academic staff, whose members are internationally-minded and have generally a long experience as field-researchers or in situ professionals. Coordinators are Moncef Ben Abdeljelil, Dean of the faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Sousse, Hela Ben Ali, Head of Journalism Department at IPSI, University La Manouba and Abdelwahed Mokni, Vice President of the University of Sfax.

Bachelor’s degree (Licence fondamentale or Licence appliquée) in an appropriate subject (e.g. humanities and social sciences, languages, arts and humanities, information and communication science), or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard from a recognised higher education institution.
Written and spoken French and Arabic is required.
Schedule & Deadlines
19 July, 2015: Deadline for submission of application online via IPSI website (“choice: Professional Master in cross-media journalism”)
30 July, 2015: Announcement of the short-listed candidates
17-21 August, 2015: Dossier submission by short-listed candidates
Short-listed candidates will be invited to a one-on-one interview. Interviews schedule:
24 August, 2015 at 9.00 AM: Interview with candidates to study at the University of Sfax
25 August, 2015 at 9.00 AM: Interview with candidates to study at the University of Sousse
26 August, 2015 at 9.00 AM: Interview with candidates to study at the University La Manouba, IPSI
Interviews will be conducted in the same institute, at the Institute of Press and Information Sciences (IPSI), Tunis
3 September, 2015: Information to candidates on the results of the interviews and announcement of admitted candidates
5 October 2015: Opening ceremony of the Master Course at IPSI
